Spring, 1996
Executed in luminous bands of blue, green, and yellow, Spring exemplifies Heinz Mack’s lifelong exploration of light and color as autonomous artistic media. The work is a continuation of Mack’s long-term series of modulated chromatic transitions. As a co-founder of the ZERO group, Mack sought to move beyond gestural expression toward clarity and renewal, and his chromatic works extend that vision into a lyrical celebration of light and perception.
