Allegro, 1961
A central figure of twentieth-century abstraction, Josef Albers devoted his career to the investigation of color and form. Allegro (1961) belongs to his celebrated Homage to the Square series, a sustained exploration begun in 1950 that became the artist’s most iconic body of work.
