Neuschwanstein (Poster), 1987
Conceived in Germany in 1987, at the end of Andy Warhol`s career, Neuschwanstein was created as a silkscreen poster to mark the centenary of the Bavarian Reinsurance Company (Munich Re). Adapting an image derived from tourism material, Warhol treats the Bavarian landmark as an icon of pop culture, merging the languages of promotion and fine art.
